Compliance & Tax Filing Disclaimer

Last updated: 8 September 2026

Read this before relying on BusinessOS for regulated tax filing. BusinessOS is a bookkeeping and invoicing tool — not a replacement for a licensed accountant, and not (yet) a direct e-filing integration with any national tax authority.

What BusinessOS provides

What BusinessOS does NOT do

BusinessOS does not perform any of the following. If you need any of these, you must use a certified tax filing service or engage an accountant.

Country-specific compliance notes

🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia — ZATCA

Provided: Invoice formatting that meets ZATCA Phase 1 (Generation Phase) requirements — 15% VAT, TRN fields for buyer and seller, sequential numbering, bilingual Arabic/English layout, structured PDF export.

Not provided: Direct integration with ZATCA's FATOORAH platform for Phase 2 real-time clearance. Phase 2 requires a cryptographic certificate from ZATCA and API integration, which BusinessOS does not currently offer.

Who this affects: If your business is required to comply with ZATCA Phase 2 (typically businesses above SAR 40M in annual revenue, or in later waves), you will need a certified Phase 2 solution alongside BusinessOS.

🇦🇪 United Arab Emirates — Federal Tax Authority

Provided: Invoice formatting compatible with FTA VAT rules — 5% VAT, TRN fields, sequential numbering, bilingual layout.

Not provided: Direct submission of VAT returns via the FTA EmaraTax portal. You (or your tax agent) must file your VAT returns manually or via a certified integration.

🇬🇧 United Kingdom — HMRC & Making Tax Digital

Provided: Bookkeeping structure compatible with MTD requirements — categorized income and expenses, VAT-inclusive/exclusive amounts, digital record retention.

Not provided: Direct submission to HMRC via the MTD API. MTD-compatible submission requires HMRC developer registration and approval, which BusinessOS has not yet completed.

Who this affects: VAT-registered UK businesses must currently submit their MTD returns via a certified MTD-compatible software. You can use BusinessOS for daily bookkeeping and then hand off CSV records to your MTD software or accountant.

🇺🇸 United States — IRS

Provided: Expense categorization suitable for Schedule C preparation, income tracking, invoice numbering.

Not provided: Direct e-filing of federal or state tax returns, 1099-NEC electronic filing, sales tax nexus tracking, or state sales tax return submission. You (or your CPA) must file all returns yourself using an IRS-approved e-file provider.

🇨🇦 Canada — CRA

Provided: GST/HST/PST rate handling per province, Business Number field, T2125-suitable expense categorization.

Not provided: Direct submission of GST/HST returns to the CRA via NETFILE. You must file your returns separately.

🇦🇺 Australia — ATO

Provided: 10% GST handling, ABN fields, BAS-suitable transaction categorization.

Not provided: Direct BAS lodgment via SBR (Standard Business Reporting). BAS lodgment requires an ATO-certified integration.

🇮🇳 India — GST

Provided: Configurable GST rates (5%, 12%, 18%, 28%), GSTIN fields, INR currency, invoice numbering.

Not provided: Direct GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, or e-invoice IRN generation via the GSTN API. E-invoicing above ₹5 crore turnover must be handled via a certified GSP/ASP integration.

🇩🇪 Germany — Bundeszentralamt für Steuern

Provided: 19% MwSt handling, invoice format meeting §14 UStG basic requirements, USt-IdNr field.

Not provided: Direct submission via ELSTER, integration with DATEV, or e-invoicing (XRechnung / ZUGFeRD) for public-sector suppliers.

🇫🇷 France — DGFiP

Provided: TVA rate handling, invoice format meeting Code de commerce basic requirements.

Not provided: Direct submission to Chorus Pro (mandatory for B2G invoicing) or to the upcoming e-invoicing platform. Auto-entrepreneur VAT exemption logic is not automatic — you must configure your rate manually.

🇪🇸 Spain — AEAT

Provided: 21% IVA rate handling, invoice format for autónomos and SMBs.

Not provided: Direct SII (Suministro Inmediato de Información) submission or connection to Verifactu. IRPF withholding must be manually configured.

🇳🇱 Netherlands — Belastingdienst

Provided: 21% BTW handling, invoice format meeting Belastingdienst basic requirements.

Not provided: Direct submission via digitale post. KOR (Kleineondernemersregeling) exemption must be manually configured.

🇵🇰 Pakistan — FBR

Provided: Sales tax rate handling, NTN field, PKR currency.

Not provided: Direct IRIS (FBR portal) submission. POS integration and real-time sales reporting to FBR are not currently supported.

Your responsibility as a user

By using BusinessOS you acknowledge and agree that you (or your appointed accountant / tax agent) remain responsible for:

No warranty of compliance

BusinessOS is provided "as is". While we make reasonable efforts to keep our formats and calculations aligned with common tax authority requirements, we make no legally binding warranty that any invoice, report, or record produced by BusinessOS will be accepted by any specific tax authority, court, or auditor. Tax rules change; we may not update the software in time for every change.

What's coming next

The following country-specific features are on our roadmap. We will update this page as each ships:

Real-time submission integrations (ZATCA Phase 2 clearance, HMRC MTD API, IRS e-file, ATO SBR, Chorus Pro, Verifactu) are longer-term and require partnerships, developer certifications, and regulatory approvals that we have not begun. They are not on our short-term roadmap.
